Malan Breton’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection revealed at Gotham Hall on Thursday afternoon. Reviewing SS 2015 collection, Breton gave us an insight of Hakka culture and Taiwan landscapes. Breton continued to blending modern style with Taiwanese elements. The new designs inspired from Sun Moon Lake, a well-known attraction in Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake blue waters are some of the most beautiful in the world. Thus, this presentation called Reflections of Sun Moon Lake.
From the presentation, Breton showed us traditional Taiwanese dying techniques, embroideries, silks, and fibers in his new collection. Each clothes symbolized high-quality handcraft art. He created a perfect image of oriental culture and western silhouette.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Malan Breton has been designing since the age of 11 and was known for his signature detailing and fabrics. Breton is self-taught and never went to design school. In 2005, Breton founded luxury brand Malan Breton in New York.
Breton is also an excellent director, his film “Malan Breton; A Journey to Taiwan” was awarded the 2015 NYC International Film Festival award for "Best Documentary Short Film”. He made a big progress to introduce Taiwan to the world and draw many visitors to travel to Taiwan.
